How to add video to a Zillow listing and an MLS listing
A listing video reaches Zillow and the MLS as a link in the virtual tour field, and the field that feeds Zillow is the unbranded one. Where the field is, what the rule means, and what to paste into it.

The answer
You add a video to your Zillow listing through the MLS, as a link
For a home that is on the MLS, you add a video to your Zillow listing by putting a link to it in your MLS's virtual tour field. Zillow publishes for-sale listings from MLS IDX feeds, and its help center says a third-party tour must be added to the Virtual Tour field through your MLS. The link then shows in the Facts and Features section of the listing page, and edits made at the MLS reach Zillow within 24 hours. Most MLSs require the page the link opens to be unbranded, with no agent name, phone number, logo or outside website on it, and your MLS's own wording is the one that applies. Rentals posted through Zillow Rental Manager are edited in Rental Manager, where Zillow documents 3D Home tours as the tour option.
Zillow's own media routes sit alongside that link. Fed data cannot be edited on Zillow by hand; the exceptions Zillow names are a 3D Home tour and an Interactive Floor Plan, captured with the free 3D Home app and added directly. Showcase listings can show one video, up to 120 seconds, made by the listing's photographer and uploaded through Zillow's Aryeo platform, with no persistent logos, watermarks or advertising. You record a walkthrough in Zillow's free Premier Agent app. A video you cut yourself reaches the page as a virtual tour link through the MLS field, and that is the route this guide follows.
Zillow, step by step
How to add video to Zillow listing pages, step by step
1. Finish the video and put it on an unbranded page
Export the MP4 in widescreen and host it on a page that shows the property and nothing about you, or as an unlisted YouTube or Vimeo video. The page the link opens is what the MLS judges.
2. Find the virtual tour field in your MLS
Each system names it differently. OneKey's Matrix keeps it in the Showing/Distribution section of the Listing Manager, one field for a branded tour and one for an unbranded tour. Zillow says to ask your MLS if you cannot find it.
3. Paste the link into the unbranded field and save
In the RESO Data Dictionary the unbranded field is carried in the IDX payload, the feed Zillow publishes listings from; the branded field is listed for the OM payload only.
4. Wait for the feed to refresh
Zillow refreshes agent listings from the MLS or broker feed within 24 hours, and the tour appears as a hyperlink under Facts and Features. Anything wrong gets fixed at the MLS.
5. For a rental in Zillow Rental Manager
Log in, click the property, click Edit, and change the listing; changes reach Zillow, HotPads and Trulia within a couple of hours. Zillow documents free 3D Home tours as the rental tour option. For a video, keep it on the property page and send that link with every reply to an inquiry.
MLS, step by step
How to add video to MLS listing fields, step by step
A virtual tour embedded in MLS listing data is a link. The MLS stores the URL, the IDX feed carries it to Zillow and the other sites on the feed, and each site decides how to show it. No video file is uploaded to the MLS. The work is in the page the link opens and the field you paste it into.
1. Read your MLS's branding rule first
MLS PIN in Massachusetts tells floor plan and virtual tour providers that their products must be IDX compliant, with no agent or office branding or office signs in the product. OneKey MLS in New York covers media attached by link or upload under Section 307.1: it must depict only the listed property, with no agent names, phone numbers, email addresses, brokerage logos or external website links, YouTube branded links included. REBNY's RLS compliance tips say to strip names, numbers, emails and URLs from the description, floor plans, photos and comments.
2. Make two versions if you want a branded one
The RESO Data Dictionary defines VirtualTourURLBranded and VirtualTourURLUnbranded, each a text field holding a tour's URL. The branded one may show you; the unbranded one shows the property alone. If you make one version, make it unbranded.
3. Host each version where the page passes the rule
An unbranded page has no name, headshot, phone, email, logo or link to your site. Check the player too; a video host's page can wrap your file in a channel name and related videos.
4. Check the public side after the feed refreshes
Open the listing on an IDX site and on Zillow, click the virtual tour link, and look at the page the way a buyer would. If a name, a logo or a contact button is visible, fix the page.
The rule
The unbranded rule, and the two virtual tour fields
The IDX feed carries your listing to Zillow and to the other sites that take the feed, and a tour that advertises you on those sites is what the MLS rules above forbid. RESO's Data Dictionary shows the split. VirtualTourURLUnbranded is listed for the IDX and OM payloads, VirtualTourURLBranded for OM only.
| Branded virtual tour | Unbranded virtual tour | |
|---|---|---|
| RESO field | VirtualTourURLBranded | VirtualTourURLUnbranded |
| RESO payloads | OM | IDX and OM |
| What the page may show | You, your photo, your contact details, your brokerage | The property only |
| Where it goes | Your own marketing, or the branded field | The IDX feed, the sites on it, Zillow's Facts and Features link |
Hosting
YouTube, Vimeo, or a page link
An unlisted YouTube video can be seen and shared by anyone with the link and stays out of search results unless someone adds it to a public playlist. The link still opens on YouTube's page, with the channel around it, and OneKey lists YouTube branded links among the things listing media must not contain. On Vimeo, an unlisted video can be watched embedded on another website or through its unlisted vimeo.com link, and password protection needs a paid membership.
A page link is the third choice, and for the MLS the cleanest. The video sits inside a property page you control, the page carries the address and the gallery, and the unbranded version carries no contact details. The virtual tour link then opens a page about the home rather than a channel about you.
Where Echo fits
The unbranded page and the MP4, from the same project
Echo makes the video from the listing photos you already have, up to 20 per project, each turned into a 4, 6 or 8 second clip with camera motion. Set the project to widescreen 16:9, add narration in a voice from Echo's library or music only, and download the MP4. Paid plans export up to 1080p with no watermark; the free plan exports 720p with a small Echo mark.
Every project can publish a property page, hosted by Echo at echovod.com/site/<address>, with the tour, the gallery, price and details, the highlights, the neighborhood, your photo and contact details, and a contact form whose messages land in Echo's inbox. That is the branded page. It has an unbranded copy made for MLS virtual-tour fields, with no contact details and no branding. Paste the unbranded copy's link into the unbranded field, keep the branded page for your own marketing, and watch the page analytics for views and plays. Pages per plan are on the pricing page.

Mistakes
Common mistakes with a listing video on Zillow and the MLS
- Pasting the branded link into the unbranded field. The IDX feed carries that field to Zillow and every site on the feed, and that is the violation your MLS writes up.
- Judging the video instead of the page. A clean MP4 inside a page with your headshot still fails.
- Waiting on Zillow instead of the MLS. Fed data cannot be edited on Zillow, and changes made at the MLS take up to 24 hours to appear.
- Expecting a self-made MP4 to upload to Zillow. Showcase video comes from the listing's photographer through Aryeo, the walkthrough is recorded in the app, and everything else arrives as a link.
- Letting the narration describe who should live there. Fair housing rules cover the video and the page; keep every line about the home.
- Reading one MLS's rule as everyone's. Read yours before the listing goes live.
Questions
Questions about adding video to a Zillow or MLS listing
Can I upload a video file straight to my Zillow listing?
For an MLS-fed listing, no. Zillow's help center says fed information cannot be edited on Zillow by hand, and a third-party tour has to be added to the Virtual Tour field through your MLS. The exceptions are a Zillow 3D Home tour and an Interactive Floor Plan, Showcase video, and the Premier Agent walkthrough, each with its own rules.
What does unbranded mean for an MLS virtual tour?
An unbranded virtual tour shows the property and nothing about the agent or brokerage. MLS PIN words it as no agent or office branding or office signs; OneKey MLS forbids agent names, phone numbers, email addresses, brokerage logos and external website links in listing media. The RESO field for it is VirtualTourURLUnbranded.
Is an unlisted YouTube video unbranded?
An unlisted YouTube video is hidden from search and open to anyone with the link, which is a privacy setting rather than a branding one. The link still opens on YouTube's page with the channel around it, and OneKey names YouTube branded links among the things listing media must not contain. An unbranded property page is the safer virtual tour link.
How long does a video take to appear on Zillow after I add it to the MLS?
Zillow says edits made at the listing source, the MLS or broker feed, reflect on Zillow when the feed refreshes, within 24 hours. Rental edits made in Zillow Rental Manager take a couple of hours to reach Zillow, HotPads and Trulia.
Does Echo give me the unbranded link for the MLS?
Yes. Every Echo property page has an unbranded copy made for MLS virtual-tour fields, with no contact details and no branding, beside the branded page with your photo and contact form. The MP4 downloads from the same project, up to 1080p with no watermark on paid plans.
